Contract n°2009 96 05 EAHC/2009/BTSF/01 - This project covers the organisation of training session in order to provide a common and unambiguous understanding of the current state of play of certain specific animal diseases, and the related EU legislation and its proper and harmonised implementation across the EU.

Furthermore, the training sessions should increase the efficacy of veterinary services in protecting the EU territory against the occurrence of diseases affecting aquaculture animals: fish, molluscs and crustacean diseases.

 

Objectives:

Two types of training courses are organised upon this topic. Two three-day training sessions dedicated to molluscs and crustacean diseases, four three-day training sessions dedicated to fish diseases. The following subjects are addressed:

  1. the EU legislation relevant to aquaculture animals, in particular the rules of placing on the market and import;
  1. pathogen and disease description;
  2. surveillance;
  3. inspection and sampling procedures;
  4. measures to be taken in case of outbreaks;
  5. notifications at internal and EU level

Support provided by the project:

Support will be provided to a total of 240 participants originating from EU Member States and candidate countries (231 persons), EEA and EFTA Countries (9 persons).

Travel:

For each supported participant, the project will reimburse (upon provision of an original receipt from a travel agency or airline company - electronic tickets will not be considered as original documents) or will provide a return flight ticket - in economy class - using the most direct route

Subsistence:

The project will provide for each supported participant:

  • on the day prior to the training: transfer from the airport to the hotel, dinner and room charge(single occupancy)
  • on 1st and the 2nd day of the training: breakfast, access to fully equipped training facilities, documentation, transport to training sites, 2 coffee breaks, lunch, dinner and room charge (single occupancy)
  • on the third day of the training: breakfast, access to fully equipped training facilities, documentation, transport to training sites, 1 coffee break, lunch and transfer from the hotel to the airport.

Selection of participants

Selection process

Training is open to participants who will have been identified by their National Contact Points - through the selection process described hereunder, and who will have returned their registration form and CV in due time.

Selection criteria

The participants should be:

  • officers of the national competent authority, relevant government ministries, services and laboratories which carry out official control tasks
  • officers directly involved in the design, deployment and operation of official controls aimed at ensuring that aquaculture fish, molluscs and crustaceans comply with the EU legislation in force
  • as a priority, the managers of fish health inspectorates operating at local level (region, province, …) on the implementation of official controls, and/or trainers of the national competent authority, so as to ensure the best possible dissemination of the knowledge acquired during the training
  • able to work in English and participate with ease at work sessions’ discussions.
